I assist individuals and their families during one of life’s most profound and difficult experiences.
Throughout my three decades of nursing profession, I have acquired a substantial amount of knowledge and experience. One crucial aspect is the recognition of each patient as a unique individual and actively participating in the process of healing, which may involve addressing fears or reducing discomfort. I actively uphold my nursing licensure and persist in providing my services within the long-term care (LTC) setting.
I have expanded my perspective in order to contribute to the betterment of the community. Throughout my professional tenure as a nurse, I have gained extensive experience in the field of hospice care. This exposure has motivated me to extend my services as a companion for those who are confronted with the imminent conclusion of their lives, and who may be seeking an alternative approach to the conventional methods employed in managing this transitional phase.
My goal is to provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support to dying people and their families. As an end-of-life doula, I do not provide medical care. I collaborate with your medical providers to supplement and enhance the care they provide.
End-of-life-doulas help dying people and their families in these ways:
Practical Assistance: Creating advance care plans, organizing legal and financial documents, coordinating with healthcare providers.
Emotional Support: Allowing dying people and their family members to express their thoughts, fears, and wishes in a safe, nonjudgemental manner.
Comfort Care: Advice on pain, symptom control, and comfort.
Spiritual Exploration: We may discuss a person’s spirituality and beliefs.
Respite for Caregivers: Supporting family members and caregivers who may be struggling emotionally and physically.
Grief and Bereavement Support: Helping family members navigate the grieving process.
Advocacy: Help ensure that the person’s end-of-life care decisions are respected.
Education and Resources: Offer information about care options, legal issues, and community resources.
